HGH And Bodybuilding
Bodybuilders are a smart bunch and it didn't take them too long to realize that when HGH was added to the drug cocktail they were already taking to build big muscles they could enjoy even more muscle development along with faster injury recovery. Until then GH had been a pretty much unknown anabolic agent, but not anymore. Those participating in bodybuilding competitions in the 1970s and 1980s presented with a more refined, clearly chiseled muscle development that was far more sculpted than what had been seen previously.
The Terrible Treadmill – Do You Know the Most Common Mistakes
Many athletes, especially runners, use the treadmill on a regular basis, but that relationship with the treadmill is often a real love hate relationship. The treadmill is a germ infested boring device but on the other hand it’s a handy way to stay ‘toasty and get your running in during those long winters day. First we hear how great the treadmill is, then we hear how bad it is for us – so which is it? Should we be using a treadmill at all? Good question!
The answer is Yes! Using a treadmill for your workout is fine but you need to make sure you aren’t that making these most common mistakes when they are using the treadmill. You need to be using your treadmill the right way!
#1 You Skip Your Warm-up
You’re busy! So hopping on the treadmill and getting moving without
the warm-up is no big deal – right. Wrong! You can injure yourself
by skipping your warm-up. It only takes a minute and it can save
yourself a lot of pain. You can skip your passive stretching and do
an active warm-up moving through each joint. Then you’re ready to
get running.
#2 You Are Zoned Out
Clearing your head and even watching TV or reading is one thing, but
getting on your treadmill with a focus on your fitness goals is
quite another. Lots of people get their cardiac workout going on the
treadmill but their mind has wandered off somewhere else. Experts
say that it is important to stay focused on your exercise so that
your gait and posture remain the focus.
#3 You Crane Your Neck
How often do you use the treadmill while watching your favorite
television show? The truth is it’s a common practice for most of us.
However, you need to pay attention to your neck and feet because you
can throw off your posture if you are looking one direction. What
happens is that one part of musculoskeletal gets stretched more and
the other gets tightened. The longer you hold this position the
higher the risk that you might actually injure yourself. If you are
going to watch TV make sure that it is directly in front of you.
#4 You are Repetitive
The most common and the biggest mistake that many make is to do the
same thing over and over and then wonder why their results aren’t
changing. You need to shake it up – change the intensity, incline,
speed, etc. to keep your body having to work different muscle
groups. One day run faster but for a shorter period of time, another
day run longer but with more an incline or for a longer period.
Interval training is an excellent way to work it up - sprint for a
short period, walk backwards on your treadmill, move sideways, etc.
Think outside the box.
#5 Your Incline is too Steep
When you are out walking or jogging, how often are you on a steep
hill that takes you an hour to climb? Your answer is likely seldom,
unless you do lots of hiking. This translates to how often you
should be working on an incline on your treadmill. The key is to
translate your time on the treadmill with what your experiences will
be in real life. Of course, doing inclines to change it up a little
is a good idea; just don’t spend an hour walking up hill. Something
else to consider – if you have to hold on you are either too steep
or you are going too fast.
#6 You Are Hanging Onto the Bar
Hanging onto the bar might seem safe but it’s not a good idea. By
doing so some of your weight is supported so it doesn’t have to work
so hard and that means you weren’t burn as many calories. If you
feel like you need to hold on you should slow down the speed until
you can confidently walk or run without hanging on.
The treadmill doesn’t have to be your enemy. During the cooler months when the weather isn’t so cooperative it’s a good way to keep moving. Of course, walking or running outside is still the best form of exercise. If you want to maximize the benefits from your treadmill workout, take an HGH supplement.
