What You Should Know About L-Ornithine
Amino acids are important to our bodies – they are the building blocks of protein. Your body uses them to build many different kinds of essential compounds. Some amino acids are more common than others and play more important roles. L-Ornithine is one of those.
Ornithine is key for removing waste from the body. Some research has shown that Ornithine helps to boost your energy levels along with providing other benefits, which we will look at. Let’s start with talking about what L-Ornithine is.
What is L-Ornithine?
According to the definition provided by Wikipedia, “L-Ornithine is an amino acid that plays a role in the urea cycle. Ornithine is abnormally accumulated in the body in ornithine transcarbamylase deficiency.”
L-Arginine is an essential amino acid delivering substrate for the circulating levels of L-Ornithine and/or L- Citrulline. L-Arginine is able to produce L-Ornithine directly. However, L-Ornithine is not part of the nitric oxide cycle; instead it is an intermediary that regulates the concentrations of ammonia and urea in the body. Sometimes you will hear this cycle called the nitrogen detoxifying pathway.
The urea cycle is made up of L-Arginine, L-Citrulline and L-ornithine. These can all be interchanged in the cycle that’s regulating ammonia concentrations.
Understanding the Urea Cycle Better
When your cells break down they contain nitrogen compounds and ammonia is a byproduct, which can be toxic if it isn’t removed from the body. In the urea cycle, the liver cells are responsible for converting ammonia into urea, a waste that the kidneys can eliminate. L-Ornithine is key in the process. In fact, the other name for this cycle is the Ornithine cycle.
If a problem occurs and Ornithine isn’t able to corrects participate in the urea cycle, it create a situation where there is potential for serious conditions to occur such as Ornithine transcarbamylase deficiency. While this condition is rare (1 in 80,000 individuals) it is real and it does occur. What happens is that because the ornithine isn’t removing the ammonia from the blood properly it accumulates in the blood and this leads to seizures, lack of energy and other symptoms.
Ornithine Anti Fatigue Benefits
Your kidneys will convert L-Ornithine into L-Arginine, which has a great deal of benefit for your body. The precursor for nitric oxide is Arginine, which aids in blood vessel dilation if your tissue needs more blood. Research has shown that when you consume additional Ornithine it can aid the promotion of endurance and physical strength.
A study was publish in "Nutrition Research" November 2008, which found healthy subjects taking additional Ornithine had fatigue from exercise than the placebo group. The authors determined that Ornithine encourages the cells to use energy more efficiently, and they recommend taking Ornithine as a supplement to prevent fatigue.
Other studies indicate that Ornithine could play a key role in your body and has the potential to benefit a number of functions. A study published in the "Journal of Surgical Research" August 2002 issue found that when lab laboratory animals were supplemented with ornithine it enhanced their wound healing. The authors credit this to the quicker production of collagen, which is significant in the forming of new connective tissue.
Another study involving laboratory animals where extra L-ornithine was taken, was published in the "Nutrition and Neuroscience," November 2011 issue. This study found that the amino acid crossed the blood-brain barrier which resulted in lower levels of anxiety type behavior in the animals, compared to control group. These are very promising results that still require confirmation through the use of human subjects.
How to Get L-Ornithine Through Food
L-Ornithine is a non-essential amino acid because your body is actually able to manufacture it in one of the stages of the urea cycle. Your liver will produce L-Ornithine using the L-Arginine amino acid, which is found in many foods such as eggs, dairy products, fish, meat, soybeans, sesame seeds, turkey, peanuts and egg whites.
It can also be taken as a supplement, which can be purchased in a health food store or online. It is considered safe when the directions are followed. However, there has not been a minimum dosage established so it is best to speak with your doctor. Too high of a dose can lead to diarrhea.
Another option available to you is to take HGH supplements like Genfx, Provacyl, Hypergh 14x and GenF20 Plus. These are HGH supplements that are made from natural ingredients and that contain many amino acids like L-Ornithine and L-Arginine. In addition these supplement have undergone serious research, so these are HGH supplements that could really help improve your overall well being by making you feel years younger.
GenF20 Plus for instance has a mix of ingredients that help the pituitary gland to produce more HGH. The amino acids such as L-Ornithine play a key role in this process too. When your body produces more HGH, you enjoy all the benefits such as more energy, less fatigue, increased libido, increased lean muscle mass, decreased fat (especially belly fat) and reduced signs of aging (as much as 20 years). The appealing benefits of human growth hormone (HGH) are no longer a secret. Many people have been so drawn by them that different companies have flooded the market with various products that supposedly help to boost the HGH levels in the body. These products range from HGH injections to releasers, activators and sprays.
It has been observed that most people suffering from back pain have low levels of human growth hormone. HGH deficiency can lead to chronic degeneration of connective tissues resulting in back problems.
The testicles are the main place where the hormone testosterone is made. Testosterone is the main hormone responsible for male reproduction, sexuality, hair growth, muscle mass, bone density and red blood cells.
HGH releasers and supplements like Hypergh 14x and Genf20 Plus are not approved by the FDA for the treatment of any disease or disorder, and cannot be sold as ‘Anti Aging’ medications (This is however the case for all supplements).
